John J.S. Cadwell received his degree in pharmacology from the University of Miami in 1981. He spent additional time studying at the University of Nottingham and the National Institute of Medical Research at Mill Hill, outside of London. Recent progress of the laboratory is: The ChrR enzyme has been crystallized and new improved mutants were obtained by rational design. Magnetite genes were expressed in mammalian cells. My research aims to understand essential relations between macromolecules’ structure and their mechanisms of action in biological processes involved in human diseases. With that goal I am applying diverse techniques and methods including x-ray scattering and diffraction, as well as computer modeling and simulation to elucidate these relations that will have a direct impact on the understanding, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of human diseases
